EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra X: Whole-Home Backup Power System
Need reliable power during outages or a way to store solar energy at home? The EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra X delivers scalable battery capacity, strong inverter output, and smart energy management—designed to power entire homes with flexible charging and automated control.
The EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra X is a modular home energy platform designed for whole-home backup, solar storage, and off-grid power management. It combines a high-capacity inverter with expandable battery modules, allowing homeowners to run essential circuits or an entire household during power outages.
A single inverter produces 12kW of continuous AC output, enough for heavy appliances such as HVAC systems, ovens, pumps, and EV chargers. When three inverters are connected in parallel, total output scales to 36kW, supporting larger homes and higher power demands.
Battery storage begins at 12.288kWh and can expand dramatically with additional modules. When paired with the EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, the system can manage home circuits, automate backup switching, and provide real-time energy monitoring through a mobile app.
Whole-Home Backup Capability
Many portable power stations cannot support high-demand appliances. The DELTA Pro Ultra X is engineered specifically for residential electrical loads.
The system provides 120/240V split-phase output, the same power configuration used in many homes. This allows it to power entire circuits rather than just individual devices.
Large appliances such as HVAC units, refrigerators, water pumps, and electric ranges can operate normally when connected through the Smart Home Panel. When multiple inverters are combined, output expands to 36kW, allowing several heavy loads to run simultaneously.
During outages, the system switches to battery power in about 20 milliseconds, which is fast enough to prevent interruptions for most electronics.
Expandable Battery Architecture
The DELTA Pro Ultra X is designed around a modular battery structure. Instead of committing to a fixed capacity, homeowners can add battery modules as energy needs grow.
Base storage begins at 12.288kWh, created by two 6.144kWh batteries. Additional modules expand capacity to 61.44kWh with a single inverter. A full three-inverter configuration can reach 184.32kWh of storage.
This scalability allows the system to support a range of scenarios:
Basic emergency backup for critical circuits
Multi-day household power during extended outages
Solar energy storage for daily electricity optimization
The batteries use LiFePO4 (LFP) chemistry, known for long lifespan and thermal stability. EcoFlow estimates a 10-year service life, supported by a battery management system with over 40 protection features.
Flexible Charging Options
The system supports several charging methods, making it adaptable to different energy setups.
Solar charging
The inverter accepts up to 10kW of solar input across dual PV ports, supporting large residential solar arrays.
AC grid charging
When utility power is available, the batteries recharge through standard AC connections. Charging schedules can be set during off-peak electricity hours.
Generator charging
Gas or propane generators can recharge the batteries during extended outages or cloudy weather.
EV charger integration
Compatible EV charging stations can provide power to the system, allowing electric vehicles to act as supplemental energy sources.
Alternator charging
Vehicle alternators can generate power while driving, which may support mobile or off-grid use cases.
Smart Home Panel 3 Integration
The EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3 serves as the central control system for the DELTA Pro Ultra X.
The panel manages 24–32 household circuits, allowing homeowners to prioritize which appliances receive backup power. Real-time monitoring tracks energy consumption across individual circuits, giving users a detailed view of electricity usage.
Automation features in the EcoFlow app allow users to adjust charging schedules, manage circuits remotely, and monitor system performance from anywhere.
The system also includes Storm Guard Mode, which automatically charges batteries to full capacity when severe weather alerts are detected. This feature helps ensure power availability before storms or grid disruptions occur.
Design and Operating Conditions
Despite its large capacity, the system is designed for residential installation.
The inverter measures 675 × 475 × 230 mm, while each battery module measures 660 × 455 × 204 mm. A single inverter-battery setup weighs approximately 50.5 kg.
Noise output remains below 30 dB at 0.5 meters, which is significantly quieter than most standby generators.
The system operates within a temperature range of −4°F to 122°F depending on component type. An IP54 rating protects against dust and light water exposure, allowing installation in garages or sheltered outdoor locations.
What This System Does Well
The DELTA Pro Ultra X stands out because it combines high output with modular expansion. Homeowners can start with a smaller setup and increase storage capacity later as their energy needs change.
Support for multiple charging methods also increases flexibility. Solar, generators, EV charging, and grid power can all contribute to the system’s energy supply.
The result is a platform that functions not only as emergency backup power but also as a long-term energy management solution for modern homes.
